modification private apartment 2013
client: private, Austria
Stylish comfort with a regional touch is what characterizes the renovation and redecoration of the apartment located right at the historical centre of Innsbruck. Within a well-balanced mixture of antique furniture, modern furnishings and design classics, Alpine Living presents itself as a sophisticated interpretation of the Alpine-urban way of living. Natural materials produced locally, furniture and objects from Nina Mair’s design collection and several finds that have been restored and re-dedicated to a new purpose, such as the antique china sink that dates back some hundred years, form a well-balanced overall picture combining contemporary solidity and tradition. Given the low budget set for this project, the basic structure of the existing building substance was completely preserved, with characteristic interior elements such as wooden plank flooring, stuccoed ceilings and double doors being carefully integrated into the concept. Architectural lightness and an optimum use of the room available were employed to make the relatively small usable living area of the apartment appear as spacious as possible. In addition, the impressive scenery of the surrounding mountains was integrated into the interior concept in order to achieve a maximum impression of spaciousness. The functional zones the rooms are divided into as well as selected pieces of furniture are oriented towards the windows that face north-west, thus offering a view of the Alpine surroundings and creating an intense connection with the mountains ahead.
